Tony Reyes is the leader of the BPN community and he is also an ambassador of the athletes. He has struggled with weight almost all his life until when he became a dad, then he decided to make a change. Let’s find out how he did.

Tony Reyes Weight Loss Journey

Tony Reyes was overweight from his childhood and he was always bullied at school because of his weight.

His eating habits were out of control he used to get a lot of junk food and he was addicted to drinking sodas and more sugary drinks which led to his rapid weight gain.

Tony Reyes said in an interview with Bare Performance Podcast that he was so addicted to fast food to an extent he would hide money from his wife Meredith to go buy some fries and soda.

But when his wife gave birth to their baby boy Tony Reyes came clean with his wife and decided to tell him everything, Tony told his wife that he would like to lose weight so that he can be there to see his child grow up.

Then his wife made a list to remind him and put it on the fridge. Tony Reyes by that time he was weighing 406 pounds and he wanted to lose  50 pounds in 100 days. That was when his son was going to make his first year.

With the help of his wife, Tony Reyes changed his diet and started eating healthy. He also started doing exercises like running and doing some resistance training.

After working hard and staying consistent Tony Reyes lost almost 150 pounds of weight in just 100 days. Now let’s look at how Tony Reyes’ workout routine looks like.

Tony Reyes’ workout program included cardio and weight training sessions. He challenged himself with the help of his family to run a Marathon of 24 miles and he was able to do it though it was very hard for him.

For weight training, Tony Reyes likes performing kettlebell swings, squats, deadlift, bench press, and other compound exercises that help him to burn fat and build muscle.

Am going to base some of Tony Reyes’ exercise, and make a workout routine that can help you also lose weight like him if you put in the work and stay consistent.

Tony Reyes Weight Training and Core

We will be working out 4 days a week working on different parts of the body each day with these exercises I have listed below.

We will be doing 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps and taking a rest period of 1 to 2 minutes depending on your intensity. Remember to warm up before doing these exercises.

Monday

  • Push-ups
  • Flat bench press
  • Incline bench press
  • Dumbbell flyes
  • Lat pulldowns 
  • Cable rows
  • Shoulder press
  • Lateral raises
  • Shrugs

Tuesday

  • Squats
  • Jump squats
  • Weighted squats
  • Barbell front squats
  • Leg press
  • Lunges
  • Leg extension
  • Stiff-leg deadlift

Thursday

  • Wide grip push-ups
  • Diamond push-ups
  • Biceps dumbbell curls
  • Barbell curls
  • Hammer curls
  • Triceps pushdowns
  • Triceps bench press
  • Triceps dumbbell kickbacks

Friday

  • Smith machine squats
  • Hack squats
  • Crusty lunges
  • Skater lunges
  • Hip thrusters
  • Hip abduction
  • Calf raises
  • Hyperextension

Core

This workout will be in a circuit routine foam focusing on your core muscles. We will be doing it for 15-minute to get the intensity of the workout.

Circuits: 3

Exercises in each circuit: 8

Reps: 30 seconds

Rest time after the whole circuit: one-two minutes

  • Crunches
  • Resistance hanging leg raises
  • Side to side hanging resistance leg raises
  • Russian twist
  • Plank ball in and out
  • Plank twister
  • Plank hold
  • Side plank to a crunch

Tony Reyes changed his diet from eating junk to eating healthy foods prepared by his wife. For breakfast, he eats Oatmeal with chia seeds and honey he adds on a protein smoothie with strawberries, banana, kale, and spinach.

He takes a mid-morning snack of protein bar or yogurt with granola

For lunch, Tony Reyes eats chicken, quinoa, and some greens

On his afternoon snack, he takes Unsalted nuts, hard-boiled eggs, or fruit.

Lastly, for dinner, he eats the same meal as his lunch Chicken, quinoa, and greens.
